Watch the video "Gone with the Wash" and complete  together as a class the worksheet No 1 Where There's a Wash, There's a Way" and Worksheet no. 4 Don't Let Energy Savings Go Down the Drain . Hand the worksheets in.

Assign worksheets pages 123, 124, 127,128. Due for class on Mon.

The following did not complete the fiber/fabric worksheet in class Fri. and should finish it today in class after watching the video and doing the  Wash worksheets in class.  They will need their computers: Angel, Leo, Trevor, Mariah and Alize.

 

 

 

8th Grade FACS

Bell Ringer: Ask students to tell the class TRUTHFUL stories (no gossip) about AIDS/HIV that they have heard growing up.  Please don't use any names of people, when sharing. Do this for about 10 minutes.

Before watching the video Porch Light read the back of the case to the students.  Watch the video "Porch Light ".  At the conclusion to the video let them have a bathroom break and time to get their laptops.  Tell them you want them to write about how their family would react to a member of the family moving back home to die of AIDS/HIV.  It needs to be at least 2 paragraphs long (each paragraph is five sentences)  Hand in at end of hour.

 

 

 

 

Nutrition and Wellness 1

.A la Carte worksheet due at beginning of class.  It was assigned on Friday last week.

Bell Ringer: Tell students without mentioning any names, have they ever wondered if someone they know has an eating disorder?   Why would they think that?

Today they are going to read some stories from real people who are dealing with eating disorders.  Log on to the internet and go to the website    edap.org      On the bar across the top of the page click on Information and resources, find stories of hope and click on it to open.  Choose one author's story and read it.  After reading the story reflect on the following questions  1.  What thing/s does the author think triggered their eating disorder.  2.  How did they get help?  3. Do they think they are cured?  Your reflection needs to be 3 paragraphs 5 sentences each paragraph.  Due at end of class period.

If they complete the reflection paragraph before the end of the hour they may go to the following site:     http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/thin/   There they should click on the command  Watch the program here.  Ansignment for all students is to watch the first segment of the movie before  class on Mon.

Complete the survey begun for your business on Thurs last week. The copy to follow is page 11 of your workbook.  Remember to change the language to fit your business. (Example: Quest. 1  should be stated "Would you buy baked fruit pies?  Hand in 1 completed copy made on Microsoft word, by end of class. Go to the website www.YoungBiz.com  On the right side of the page find YoungBiz Hot Spotz  Click on Start a Biz. Read about two of the businesses begun by youth just like you.  In a reflection about the readings compare the interests of the youth beginning these businesses and tell what they have accomplished through their business adventures.  Reflection needs to be two paragraphs 5 sentences each.  

 

ProStart II

Make two potato dishes they chose last Thurs.  Ingredients are on the counter.  Please be very careful with the hot grease.  Leave on the stove top when done.  Move off the hot burner please.

Assign reading pages130-133 and pgs134-137 and do questions pg 133 and 138 for Wed.

Questions from page 133 and 138 due.

Assign choosing two grain recipes to make on Tues the 24th.

Assign Quizzes (open book) over chapter 2.1-2.4.

Complete Paycheck Introduction worksheets(3)  Hand in when completed.

Hand out 4 post-it notes to each student and have them put answers to the questions found on the board, one on each note.  Have students place their answers on the board under the questions.  Choose someone in class to read the answers to each question.

Hand out the power point handouts and the Paycheck and Tax Forms worksheet to complete using the power point handout.  Due on Wed.

Lots of the class is gone to Mitchell today or to the Volleyball Tourn.

Power point worksheet assigned on Monday due today at beginning of class.

Assign the Paychecks worksheet. due at end of class for those present.
